YHA Auckland International review

YHA Auckland International

I have stayed at YHA hostels before in my travels, and I always found them to be cleaner than “independent” hostels. This might be because it’s kind of a hostel “brand” with hostels in over 90 countries. That’s why I chose it for my first night in Auckland.
It is located near Queen street, which is the main street in Auckland but it is a little bit of a walk to where all the fun stuff is and by that I mean the CBD and the harbour. I would say 10 minute walk to the CBD and 15 minutes to the harbour.

When I needed a proof of address to open a bank account I just went to the reception and they printed one out for me for 40 cents and I think the overall the staff was pretty helpful and friendly.

I stayed in a 6-bed female dorm which looked like this

They had big lockers that fit my big suitcase so I was pretty happy about that. Also the electric plugs were inside the locker which I loved because I could leave my electronics charging while I was out without worrying that someone might steal them.

And each bed had their own lamp in case everyone was asleep, you could turn the light without disturbing everyone in the room. So thoughtful!

The showers on the first floor which is where I stayed at looked like this

This one was my favourite shower room because it had a shower and the toilet together in one room and it was all nice and private. Also very clean, which is always something I appreciate in a hostel shower.

The bathrooms got a little bit roughed up as the day went but still I thought it was cleaner than other places I have stayed at.

The kitchen and dining rooms were one of the biggest I have seen so far in hostels and very clean too. I would definitely stay here again.
