About the room:
Its a small room but its clean. Beds are clean too. There is a small heater that warmed up the room pretty well, so it was nice and warm inside the room.

Electric plugs: There is one plug for each bed.

Lockers: Yes, there are lockers but they are very small. I could just fit my valuables inside.
Bring your own lock.

Room quietness: It was a quiet place, a little snoring from one of the roommates but hey, that cant be helped.

Shower & bathroom cleanliness:
Both the bathrooms and showers were clean.
The only thing I didn't like was that it was not possible to control the water temperature and I had to keep pushing the button to turn the shower on again because after a while it automatically went off...

Bathroom amenities: No hair dries, no paper towels.

Communal spaces: I really enjoyed the common room because it had a chimney!! Omg that was so cute and warm. I loved that.
Also the TV room had a pool table (which had seen better days) and to kill time my friend and I played a game.

Recommend it Yes or No?
If you are staying in Matama then yes! Not only because is the only backpacker in town but because its a nice place, very central and the staff is so friendly.

Also I talked with the receptionist and he said that depending on who is on in the morning they could arrange to drive us to the Wairere Falls for $10 each. Nice of them to offer that service to those of us without cars. (But because the weather was bad we didn't go).

Who I met here?
My roommates were two guys, one from North England and the other guy was from Switzerland.
It was England guy's birthday and he celebrated by going to the hobbiton day tour and the night dinner tour. By the time he came back to the room he could barely function because he felt sick of having eaten too much! haha As he was telling us about the feast he kept having to stop to burp, and make puky noises.
Both guys were so into Lord of the rings and The hobbit that I couldn't even keep up with their conversation! They were Big fans.
